Conference & Events Lead

The Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Association has a new and exciting opportunity for a Conference & Events Lead to join our Digital & Communications Team at our national office in Northampton, where we operate a trusting, collaborative, and agile working environment.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity where you will be responsible for setting and delivering the conference and events agenda for the Association. As well as re-establishing our live events programme, the role holder will also create and deliver a calendar of virtual and hybrid events.

You will work with many teams across the Association to plan, schedule and deliver a wide range of events for our audiences including people living with MND, carers, health and social care professionals and many more.

As well as planning and setting the agenda, you will lead on the logistical delivery of the events – from booking venues and presenters for live events, through to queuing up content and running virtual event platforms.

The Association has had to change our conference and events programme during the pandemic, giving the role holder the chance to shape our offering going forward.

What are we looking for?  

We are looking for an enthusiastic & driven individual with demonstrable experience of conference & event planning, in both virtual and live format.

This role requires a candidate who can communicate and influence at all levels, strong negotiating skills and the diplomacy and tenacity to see all events and projects through to the end.

The successful candidate must have experience of running live events, which would include venue searching and rate negotiation, venue set up, presenter and content organisation, delegate registration and welcome and issue resolution.

We are seeking a candidate that can also bring virtual events planning and delivery to the Association, with experience of using tools such as Zoom, MS teams or other bespoke events platforms such as Events Air or GoTo Webinar, and creating a first class delegate experience using digital email tools such as DotDigital or Mail Chimp.

Experience of running hybrid events is desirable but not essential.

Driving Licence required.

There will be the need for occasional evening and weekend work, along with the ability to travel to external meetings and events as required which may include international travel.

This role is Northampton office based. The MND Association operates an Agile working culture and therefore we are open to discussing the possibility of variable hours, remote or home working, flexible start and finish times etc.
